This Prairie style home with heavy timbers and overly large overhangs was once a very typical, colonial saltbox style home. The house needed a new and larger kitchen, new windows and doors throughout, a new master bedroom and bath, a larger foyer and warm and welcoming entrances.

Taking the existing good bones of the saltbox type home and adding beams and timbers gave the house its appeal. Adding details in the Prairie style, such as large gable end overhangs, mahogany brackets to support the additional roofing, enlarging the brick center chimney andadding stone veneer to all chimneys gave the house character. The house now says “Welcome, please come in”
